The Central California District Family Camp at Sugar Pine Christian Camps, scheduled for June 24-28, 2005, offers a faith-filled getaway for families in the scenic Sierra National Forest near Oakhurst, California. Just an hour north of Fresno, the camp provides a serene mountain setting for relaxation and spiritual growth.

Activities & Worship

Families can enjoy a variety of activities, including basketball and volleyball tournaments, a multi-generational obstacle course, a high ropes course, zipline, archery tag, BB guns, canoeing, fishing, disc golf, swimming, cornhole, bocce ball and more. Mornings feature Family Bible Hour with fun games, engaging talks, and worship followed by morning chapel services for children and adults*.  Each evening families gather in the meadow for worship and a word from the speaker*.  

*Nursery is available for children 0-4

Meet the Speakers

Rev. Steve Rodeheaver serves as the pastor of Southeast Church of the Nazarene in San Diego and has been a part-time faculty member in the School of Theology & Christian Ministry at Point Loma Nazarene University for nearly 20 years. Known for his thoughtful, Scripture-centered teaching, Pastor Steve brings a pastoral heart and decades of ministry experience to his messages. His engaging style and deep biblical insight make him a meaningful voice for families seeking to go deeper in their relationships with Christ.

Dr. Brad D. Strawn is a pastor, psychologist, and professor passionate about helping people connect their faith and emotional lives in meaningful ways. With decades of experience in both ministry and clinical psychology, he brings deep insight, warmth, and wisdom to his teaching. As a speaker, he’s known for making complex ideas accessible and practical—perfect for families seeking spiritual growth and connection.

Lodging Options

Sugar Pine offers a range of accommodations to suit different preferences and budgets:

  • Twin Oaks & Cedar Lodge: Rooms with private baths and showers (capacity varies).

  • Fir Cabins: Cabins with half baths (sleeps 10).

  • Cedar Cabins: Cabins without private baths (sleeps 10).

  • Timber Mountain Cabins. Rustic cabins without private baths; located in the quieter upper camp (sleeps 9).

  • RV & Tent Sites: Designated areas for RVs and tents, with some sites offering water and electrical hookups.
